SVRA & Classic Motorsports Magazine Announce Innovative Driver\'s School Program

Southlake, Texas (February 15, 2013) – Classic Motorsports magazine and SVRA (Sportscar Vintage Racing Association) have teamed up to bring you a low cost, low impact way to see if vintage racing is for you. This is an expierence geared toward the person who has had little to no track time. We will hold one-day introductions to vintage racing at six of SVRA’s race weekends in 2013. These schools are open to everyone regardless of what car you drive or your experience level. At the discounted price of $495, they are just the thing to get you on track to try vintage racing the easy way. Expertly led by legendary driving instructor Peter Krause and his team, you will not only learn the fundamentals of vintage racing, but you\'ll actually get to drive your vintage or modern street car on famous tracks like Sebring, VIR, Mid-Ohio or Road America.

Every entrant will go home with a certificate of completion, a one-year subscription to Classic Motorsports magazine and a lifetime of memories from these exciting one-day events.

As a special offer to Classic Motorsports and Grassroots Motorsports subscribers, SVRA is offering a special $100 discount for the Sebring driving experience on Thursday February 28th. This offer is limited to the first ten (10) subscribers on a first come, first served basis.

Having Classic Motorsports magazine as a partner in this exciting project is a natural extension of their “do-it-yourself” journalism that has made them so successful. Lastly, this program will provide easy access for new people to become involved in the sport of Vintage racing”

Tim Suddard, publisher of Classic Motorsports commented, “We are thrilled with the aggressive new ownership at SVRA. They think the way we do and will be great partners on this program. We are thrilled to be able to support these schools designed to bring new people into the sport of vintage racing. This is just what our sport needs.”

About SVRA: Founded in 1978, the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (originally called the Southeast Vintage Racing Association) has conducted Vintage Racing events at legendary tracks in the east and southeast area of the country, including Watkins Glen International, Sebring International Raceway, Virginia International Raceway, Road America, and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Acquired by Texas businessman and Vintage Racer Tony Parella in September 2012, the organization has embarked on an aggressive program designed to bring the sport of Vintage Racing to a new level of professionalism and prominence. Among the key elements of this program are: the acquisition of the west-coast vintage organization Historic Sportscar Racing–West (HSR-West); the announcement of a set of simplified set of rules enforcement procedures; and an expansion of its east- and west-coast race schedules to a record-setting total of 17 events for the 2013 season. Additionally, the emergence of SVRA as vintage racing’s only national organization will give competitors an unrivaled opportunity to experience events on both coasts, as well as vintage racing’s first ever national championship.
