Off Road DOT Tires?

I don\'t know if you can help, but I am having a hell of a time finding some for my front wheels.

I can find them for rear 14\" rims at 9.5\" wide - but my front\'s which are 6.5\" wide are giving me hell.  Smallest tires of this nature I can find for a 14\" wheel are 7\" to 8\" wide.  I\'m assuming that is a no go on a wheel that is 6.5\" in width?

First off I would like to say that I am a BFG fan. I have BFG\'s on all my vehicles including my off-road race cars. I was talked into trying a set of General Tire AT2 for my lifted Explorer sport trac. I was instantly impressed. They do great in the dirt, they do great on the pavement, and good in light snow. They are a bit louder then the BFG\'s of the same type. That would be my one and only complaint. but they are not a loud tire by any means. just louder then the BFG\'s. They have worn very, very well on my truck, and I do a bit of off-roading. I have had them on my truck for little over a year and they have worn very little and very even. I would recommend these tires to anyone. They are also cheaper then BFG\'s

Had massive amounts of metal on my rim to get these to balance. After 9000 miles my Jeep would start shaking at 55mph. Needed to be rotated and rebalanced. Was told it was my suspension. Changed everything to top of the line components.... Same thing 2x. Tire wear was horrible. Soft tire, I\'m sure good for dry rocks, but that\'s not me. After 30000 wet traction was horrible. Just recently hit a telephone pole because jeep kept sliding down a slight grade after a t storm. local tire shop stopped using because trucks would \"sway\".

GREAT tire. I have has several sets of BFG All terrains but after the tire rack ratings and reviews I tried them out on my wifes \'03 Grand Cherokee. Went with D load range to eliminate the flats she was having with the P tires and expected the ride to be much rougher...it was not. 40,000 miles on that set before i took them off and they still had almost 1/8\" of tread left and they wore true even though they took alot to balance. 2 trips to CO on them and they stuck to the rocks better than the the off road rigs in the group. Wet traction and Ice were the areas I was especially impressed with and having them side by side with the BFG\'s on my K3500 that was over 7000lbs, even worn down, the Grabbers still performed better than the BFG\'s which were near new. Noise increased somewhat with wear but brand new they were almost as quiet as the stock Goodyears and never became obnoxious. They did not chunk as much as the BFG on the flint rock roads around home though they did pick up and throw a bit more gravel...don\'t hang your hand out the window, it will get thumped. I would recommend them to anyone in the market for this type of tire. I have worn out one set on the Jeep and just ordered another set TODAY, and have put them on 2 work trucks and my uncles 2500 dodge.

I love these tires. On road and offroad I feel comfortable and confident in them. They handle excellently in all conditions and for an aggressive tread All-terrain tire they are very quiet. I think they perform as well as the comparable tires in its class. For the price of the AT2s being easily $80 per tire cheaper than the next closest brand it\'s a no brainer to go with General.

THESE TIRES DID NOT LAST MORE THAN 11,000 MILES AND WERE ABOUT WORN OUT.WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THESE TIRES.CHEAP TIRES,SPEND A LITTLE MORE AND BUY KUMO TIRES,I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT GOOD LUCK WITH THESE TIRES, IN ALL SITUATIONS.ALL AROUND GOOD TIRES FOR ALL TRUCKS AND SUV\'S.general tires are cheap and not worth your money. A friend of mine has a second generation Fontier and just got his third set since he\'s had the truck.He just turned over 180,000 and wouldn\'t dream of putting another tire on his truck. Based on his reccommendation, I bought a set and have been VERY happy with the purchase. They have an aggressive tread but even with this tread, the noise is much quieter than you\'ld expect....that\'s why I gave it a 9...yeah, there\'s noise coming off of them but compared to other tires of this nature, the General is leagues ahead of the competition. Quite simply, this tire does not behave like a typical truck tire...it behaves more like a fine auto tire that you can also flog in the back country

I purchased these tires because they could be studded (I had TireRack stud them)and the tread blocks have lots of sipping. No handling or traction problems in the winter snow and ice I have encountered for the last two winters in western Montana and Canada. I will most likely buy a set of AT2s for my Blazer.

I have definitely been very happy with these tires. After 25,000 miles they still have more than half tread left on them. Excellent sand traction driving on OBX, effortlessly pulls through deep sand. A bit noisy and rough ride on pavement but not bad for an off road tire. The best off road tire I\'ve ever run on a vehicle. (Good looking too I might add!)
